PTSA Action Teams
Our PTSA is organized into six Action Teams: School Involvement; General Fundraising; Development; Communication; Community Building/Hospitality; and Education. Dividing the opportunities into Action Teams means that families can sign up for what interests them, or for an area in which they have resources or expertise. In this way, parents can focus their time, energy and commitment.
ACTION TEAM #1: School Involvement
The School Involvement Team is charged with the coordination of volunteer opportunities for new and returning members or families, community and businesses, and our parish community to render service. This team is also responsible for incentives and recognition for volunteerism, managing and providing accountability of service time, soliciting volunteers from the school families.
ACTION TEAM #2: General Fundraising
The General Fundraising Team is responsible for organizing all fundraising events that provide revenue to the school and are approved by school administration and input from the PTSA. This team shall determine through consultation what other fundraising events PTSA will participate in each year (e.g. jog-a-thon, Halloween party, wreath sale, raffle and other annual fundraising events). In addition, this team is responsible for:
ACTION TEAM #3: Development
The Development Team is responsible for exploring long-term development opportunities by reestablishing relationships with alumni, pursuing grants, bequests, and scholarships. This team will maintain up-to-date information of alumni for the purpose of accessing their expertise, time, commitment and resources for the betterment of St. Edward School and students.
ACTION TEAM #4: Communication
The Communication Team is responsible for developing a communication tool that is efficient, effective, proactive and accessible. This team will provide school families, administration, parish and alumni with news about the school and related activities. The information will be communicated through appropriate social networking sites, email and the school’s website. Other mechanisms to use may include the FYI, the parish bulletin, the church vestibule bulletin board and PTSA bulletin board.
ACTION TEAM #5: Community Building/Hospitality
The Community Building/Hospitality Team is responsible for building relationships and promoting St. Edward School among the school and parish community. Special attention should be paid to showcasing or highlighting the uniqueness of each culture in our school community through food, music, dance or crafts. This team will assist in creating an environment that fosters the desire to take ownership of and become an active partner in St. Edward School and will include a “New Family Mentor” program, as well as teacher and office staff appreciation.
ACTION TEAM #6: Education
The Education team is responsible for encouraging continuing education among school parents/guardians by providing guest speakers, books, information brochures, classes, etc. on a regular basis throughout the school year on topics of interest to the parents/guardians. Topics may include but are not limited to health and nutrition, parenting skills, anti-bullying/cyber-bullying, cooking classes, second language challenges, CPR training, etc.
